The Duke’s Dream by Giovanna Siniscalchi is the story of French ballet dancer Helene de Beaumont and the man who hasn’t been able to forget the graceful angel who haunts his dreams, the Duke of Albemarle. She’s new to Regency London to become part of a new ballet, a real chance to let her self-taught skills shine. Helene is focused on this opportunity because she is desperate to become a principal in the dance company, even though her friend and fellow dancer, Celeste, wants to find life and romance outside the theater and urges Helene to join her. When Helene crosses paths with the Duke of Albemarle, he knows at once that he must have her, but in true ducal fashion, he is cold and rude. Despite that, there was something unforgettable about the intensity of that first meeting, and the story gets going from there.

It's been a while since I’ve read a historical romance, but The Duke’s Dream was an exhilarating read filled with everything I love about Regency romance tales. Giovanna Siniscalchi has woven a fun tale set in the era, describing the dress and even mentioning the politics of the time, which fully absorbed me into the story. But this isn’t just a historical romance; there are twists and turns, and shocking reveals that add more depth to the story of Helene and William. These characters are strong yet flawed, and every layer uncovered made me eager to see what would happen next. An added bonus is that the chapter intros from the diaries of Helene and William provide a nice peek into the minds of our hero and heroine.
