The Fixer: Bones by Ozzie Logozzo follows Alexandra Stone (Alex), a skilled former FBI hostage negotiator trying to escape her painful past. After experiencing a heartbreaking personal loss, she hopes to find peace and moves to Italy to slowly rebuild her life. Instead of finding inner solace, Alex is thrust into a mystifying case where a killer poses the victims' bodies using themes from Michelangelo's art. Alex's investigation gradually pulls her into the dangerous world of Alessandro Florentino, a sculptor whose art blurs the line between beauty and darkness. Along the way, she faces betrayal, the weight of her painful past, and discovers unexpected moments of clarity. In the end, can Alex rise above her pain and uncover the killer's identity before another victim pays the price?

Bones is the fifth installment in Ozzie Logozzo's heartpounding The Fixer series. It is a thought-provoking psychological thriller that combines emotional intensity and analytical accuracy. The detailed descriptions of Italy and its art make the story feel real, while also hinting at the darker side of beauty found in art. Logozzo's writing style carefully blends suspense with profound reflection. This captivating book is not just about solving murders through the eyes of a jaded ex-FBI agent; it is about understanding how Alex's grief, memories, and art help shape her life. The book explores these complex emotions at a slow, deliberate pace, allowing readers enough time to reflect on the connections between Alex's love, loss, and identity. Overall, some parts of the book feel like a crime thriller, while others read more like a philosophical discussion about beauty and the sacredness of life. I rather enjoyed this writing technique. Bones is crafted particularly for readers who enjoy both suspense and meaningful conversations. Fans of TV shows such as Criminal Minds or Sherlock will enjoy this intriguing read.
