The Good Time Girls is the first installment in the Wild-Willed Women of the West series by K T Blakemore. Set in 1905, the story follows the vivacious Ruby Calhoun, an ex-dancehall girl who has turned a page in her life. Happy with living a quiet life on the right side of the law, Ruby is living in the present and away from the ghosts of her past. However, that all changes when her old friend and ex-dancehall partner, Pip, shows up on her doorstep with troubling news. Cullen Wilder is out for their blood. Their old enemy is sniffing them out, and the only way to stop him is to find Cullen first and end his life before he can end theirs. But finding him isn’t easy. Ruby and Pip must travel to Kansas to protect others from Cullen’s wrath and stay safe. The path ahead is the most difficult for Ruby. Before she can look forward to a better future, she needs to face her past.

The Good Time Girls is easy to read. The narrative is fluid and smooth as silk. K T Blakemore crafts perfect characters and adds the right amount of action and a dash of suspense to create the ideal story to keep you entertained for hours. I finished the story in one sitting because I didn’t want to stop. I loved Ruby and her jaded ways. She is hardened by life but still knows how to live fully and completely. Her relationship with Pip is hilarious. Their bickering is fun, yet it is clear that both women still care about each other very much. They both are sassy and sharp women who are unafraid to get their hands dirty to get what they want. I loved their backstories and a look inside their past and present relationships. I became an instant fan of Blakemore and cannot wait to see what’s in store for us next!
