The Hitman’s Wife by Joy Ross Davis pulls you in from the first chapter. We start with Jodie, a down on her luck photographer whose life is interrupted by her ex - Russel. He wants to be back in her life but she flatly refuses. She is not the only thing he left behind. Between them they share Rusty and Russel wants to be in his life. After they reconcile, Russel realizes that Jodie is suffering from some terrible nightmare, something that is so fiercely overwhelming that she sobs in her sleep only to return to normal during the day. Russel’s fears are realized when one of his ‘team’ shows him the horrible truth about Jodie’s past. With the help of a doctor who specializes in hypnotherapy, they uncover the tip of a very scary iceberg. Her attacker is none other than Karl Batz, a man who Russel had supposedly killed but escaped, now free to do what he did to Jodie to other young girls. It’s now a personal mission of Russel’s to get vengeance not only for the little girls but for his beloved Jodie. However, will all go according to plan or will Jodie’s fragile mental state stop Russel from doing what he needs to do to keep his family safe? I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves romance and action.

The Hitman’s Wife by Joy Ross Davis was a very entertaining read for me. I loved every second of it. I liked the depth of Jodie’s condition and the way in which the truth unravels. Russel was at first a bad guy to me but once you read on, you feel nothing but affection for him. Unlike most action romance stories, this one was believable. The first few chapters fly by and you get lost in the story very quickly. I loved the team, Chin, Harry, Jerry, and Roy who had each other’s backs no matter what, and they look out for one another as brothers. I hoped for more tension, but it was perfect for the story. There was no rush to romance you get in many cases, losing the plot as they go along. The love scenes were tasteful and the action was thrilling. The ending was so good. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves action romances with hitmen, with a heart-warming, complex storyline.
