The dynamics of life within the Beltway come alive in The iCongressman: The Michael Bennit Series Book 2 by Mikael Carlson. Michael Bennit, a former Green Beret and history teacher, his staff made up of his former exceptional high school students and his girlfriend, a respected journalist, take on the Washington D.C. elite who don’t want to let go of the status quo. After a campaign based on social media without money from donors that always comes with strings attached, Michael Bennit hopes to bring much needed change to the way Congress gets things done – or doesn’t. As an independent, though, he discovers that neither party wants to deal with him, except to get him out. With careful maneuvering and the help of an unlikely ally, Bennit fights off the attempts to discourage him. His goal is simple – make Congress work for the people, not for the benefit of those in power. Reaching that goal is an uphill climb. Will the iCongressman succeed or will he lose to the influence and dealings of those with more experience and connections?

Politics is a risky business and The iCongressman: The Michael Bennit Series Book 2 by Mikael Carlson portrays all the ins and outs with clarity. Told in the first person in sections devoted to four of the main characters, it is easy to follow the action from both sides of the arguments – Michael Bennit and his Chief of Staff, Chelsea, and Speaker of the House Johnston Albright, and former Senator Marilyn Viano. Politics is also a complicated business but Mikael Carlson deftly incorporates all the information you need to understand how deals are made and who really has the power so that everything makes sense without losing traction in the story. The Michael Bennit Series provides an excellent look at what most Americans are thinking today about the state of the government and offers a strong message to those ready and willing to heed it. This book is fantastic and explains why so many Americans feel as I do! The author makes it a clear lesson in history and politics while being quite entertaining. I love the ending and can't wait for the next volume! Great job!
