“The Inheritance of a Swamp Witch” by Sonia Taylor Brock is a wonderful fantasy bringing into the mix almost every possible boogeyman you could imagine. Focusing on humor rather than horror, this book is entertainment at its finest. One of a series, it hooked me right in the lip and reeled me in, to buy and read the rest of the series. This tale begins in Los Angeles with the death of a billionaire’s widow, whose will left everything to a charitable organization. Her niece and nephew were challenging the will. While doing background research, Dan Rawlings, a freelance investigative reporter, caught a hint of a possible heir living in Louisiana. Sensing that one elusive scoop which could have the big publishers beating a path to his door, Rawlings heads to Louisiana. Will he find an heir? Will he find any cooperation with the locals? Or will this turn out to be just one more bust in his not-so-storied career?

It would be misleading to tell you that this tale has a twist at the end. This whole story is a series of twists! One after another after another, unanticipated events occur to keep your mind reeling as it tries to keep up with the action. This is one of the most fun stories I have read in a long time. I seriously cannot wait to read the rest of this series, because they just have to be as fun to read as was this one. From mythological gods and dragons, to Boggarts and empaths, no creepy thing is omitted from the action in this tale. The result is an untainted serving of pure fun and entertainment. Sonia Taylor Brock is a name I am going to remember. I expect to see it often in the years to come. I highly recommend this book for anybody capable of reading it. “The Inheritance of a Swamp Witch” will delight you all, young or old.
