The Keepers: Connor Chronicles, Book 1 by Dormaine G is the story of sassy and sarcastic 15-year-old Sasha, also known as Connor. On the surface, she is a regular girl living a normal life with her parents, a younger brother who messes with her, and an older sister who is way too popular for Connor to live peacefully. However, this is nothing compared to what she is and who she is. You see, Connor is not a normal girl. She has powers that make her special or weird, depending upon how you see it.
Soon she realizes that even though her powers make her special, there is a price that comes with her abilities. She finds out that she is not the only one and there are far more people like her than she realized. Now, Connor has the desire to find out who she is and what do her powers mean. But there is a catch! There are some creatures living on planet Earth and they want to find her. What do they want from Connor? What is so special about her when there are so many other people like her? Is she really as insignificant as she thinks she is?
What I really enjoyed about this novel was the fact that it is a fast paced read that maintains its steady pace and does not rush anything. On one hand, we have Connor, who is sarcastic and witty, and on the other we have a fresh and focused story line that binds everything together. The dialogues, the flow of the story, the amazing imagery and strong character development take the novel to a whole other level. Truly entertaining. I cannot wait to read the second part in the series.
