Author Biography

Dormaine lived most of her life in Long Island, New York but now resides in Colorado. As a young child, she spent many Saturdays in the library nurturing her love for books.

She attended New York Institute of Technology nursing program. There, Dormaine received a Bachelors in Nursing of Science. She also has an Associates in Math & Science and is certified in Forensic Nursing. After many years of working in hospitals and travel nursing, she took time off from work to pursue a career in writing.

She loved writing the Connor Chronicles’ trilogy because it involves several special teenagers working together on an adventure. The teen years are such a vulnerable period and it is important to have friends to help you through difficult times.

When she is not on her computer, she loves to spend time with her husband and feisty dog. She has many hobbies that include swimming, discovering festivals, reading anything paranormal and Scifi, watching all things of horror but especially going to haunted houses.

The Keepers: Connor Chronicles, Book 1 by Dormaine G is the story of sassy and sarcastic 15-year-old Sasha, also known as Connor. On the surface, she is a regular girl living a normal life with her parents, a younger brother who messes with her, and an older sister who is way too popular for Connor to live peacefully. However, this is nothing compared to what she is and who she is. You see, Connor is not a normal girl. She has powers that make her special or weird, depending upon how you see it.

Soon she realizes that even though her powers make her special, there is a price that comes with her abilities. She finds out that she is not the only one and there are far more people like her than she realized. Now, Connor has the desire to find out who she is and what do her powers mean. But there is a catch! There are some creatures living on planet Earth and they want to find her. What do they want from Connor? What is so special about her when there are so many other people like her? Is she really as insignificant as she thinks she is?

What I really enjoyed about this novel was the fact that it is a fast paced read that maintains its steady pace and does not rush anything. On one hand, we have Connor, who is sarcastic and witty, and on the other we have a fresh and focused story line that binds everything together. The dialogues, the flow of the story, the amazing imagery and strong character development take the novel to a whole other level. Truly entertaining. I cannot wait to read the second part in the series.

The Keepers by Dormaine G is the first book in the Connor Chronicles. It’s about a fifteen-year-old girl named Connor. Connor has a normal family. Parents who are annoyingly ordinary. An older sister who is much too cheerleader-ish and a younger brother who irritates her every chance he gets. What could be more typical than that? Right? Well, after Connor realizes she has this strange power to turn invisible, her life goes from boring to crazy in an instant. But Connor is not alone. She is not the only one who has been gifted with super abilities. She soon meets a group of teens who are just as gifted as she is. As the group searches for answers as to “why them,” they learn secrets that change their lives dramatically. Lies are exposed that make her question her very birth. In essence, Connor’s once boring, average life, turns seriously dangerous, with enemies all too ready to battle and betrayers within.

Connor is a hilariously cynical teenager. Sarcasm is her middle name. She captured my heart right away. The Keepers is a fun-filled journey that Connor and her band of super teens go on in order to seek out their origins. Dormaine G has proved to have a brilliant imagination that kept me guessing as to what she would come up with next. I thoroughly enjoyed this first segment in the Connor Chronicles and can’t wait to see what happens next. Since this does end in a cliff-hanger, reader beware. Once you read the first book you will not be able to stop with just one. This book is categorized in the young adult fantasy genre, but I think it would be a great read for any age group. Thank you, Dormaine G, for a fast-paced, suspenseful fantasy!

The Keepers is the first book in the young adult series Connor Chronicles by Dormaine G. Connor is a sixteen-year-old who feels put upon by her siblings and parents who don’t really understand her. As she works through these growing pains, she discovers that she can disappear ... literally. For an awkward teen, the ability is a handy trick especially when it comes to avoiding embarrassing situations. As she uses her powers, she realizes that she’s not alone. When Connor learns of other teenagers with singular powers like hers, they embark on a journey to discover their true nature. Connor finds out the hard way that the truth may not be such a good thing. Their new powers put them in the sights of a dangerous Inhuman called Ronin.

Dormaine G’s The Keepers is a sci-fi/paranormal story suitable for a young adult audience. The author raises a number of interesting topics that affect the youth of today. One of the most important areas covered is adoption. I found it interesting not just in its emotional impact on the characters, but in the societal views. There’s a fresh look at how teenagers view themselves as well as others of their own age. Youngsters who perceive themselves as having the same problems will tend to group together as a matter of survival. Speaking of survival, the Connor Chronicles is all about the survival of an alien race which is hidden among humans. It will be fun to see where this story leads and if the Keepers will be able to keep their young safe.
