The Law Of Birthdays is a children's picture book written by Brenna Jeanneret with illustrations by Marina Kondrakhina. It aims to teach children that they have the power to make choices, and that their preferences matter. The story is set in a colorful and grand kingdom, where the king decrees that every child shall eat cake on his birthday. One day, a girl attending the king's birthday refuses to eat cake when it is presented to her by the royal guards. Despite their attempts to persuade her by adding more frosting and sprinkles, she does not eat a crumb. This baffles everyone, as they have never encountered anyone who does not want to eat cake. The little girl is then presented to the king, and she explains why she chose not to eat the cake.

The Law Of Birthdays is an entertaining story with a vital lesson about the importance of making choices based on what you like. Often, we find ourselves doing things that everyone else is doing, rather than what we truly want. This tale encourages children to speak out about what they prefer, and not to succumb to peer pressure. This promotes the idea of individuality and expressing oneself. Brenna Jeanneret does a great job of conveying this message in a way that children can understand. Her creative storytelling approach and use of fun characters make the message engaging and memorable for young readers. The book includes interactive questions that readers can answer before and after reading the story. These questions help readers understand the lessons, characters' emotions, and personalities. Moreover, the beautiful illustrations correspond with the story and perfectly depict the characters' hilarious interactions. I enjoyed this story and recommend sharing it with your children to teach them about making choices based on their preferences.
