The Naked Nymph In The Dark Flickers by Ray Dyson is a thriller sleuth novel set in the mid-1930s. Ex-cop Neil Brand has finally found a niche in sunny California's York Studios in Hollywood. Newly married and with a comfortable job in security at the studio, Neil couldn't be happier with his new life; until a soon to be ex-movie star is murdered and Neil is the last to arrive on the scene. Neil finds himself in the hot seat with his employer, Harry York, and in a state of confusion as he struggles to catch up with what is going on at the studio. In an attempt to leave the past in the past, Neil decides to let the cops take over the investigation so he can attend to more pressing matters at the studio. Only, when a secret film falls into his hands, Neil realizes that there is more to the murder of the movie star than he first thought. Now, there is a lot more at stake. Can Neil help solve the murder before another one is committed? Or will he lose everything he's worked so hard to rebuild?
The Naked Nymph In The Dark Flickers by Ray Dyson is the gripping sequel to The Ice Cream Blonde. I was so excited when I found out this book was released! I could hardly wait to dive into the pages of the next Neil Brand thriller. It did not disappoint me. The characters are just as exciting, Hollywood just as dazzling, and the plot just as thick! The author has developed his "hard-boiled" voice to the point where it flows so smoothly that I was easily able to get lost in the book. Every time I read one of his books, I am excited to find out more about the '30s than I already knew. The Naked Nymph In The Dark Flickers is another must-read for those that like the 1930s, love sleuth thrillers, and enjoy noir fiction.
