The Ottoman Excursion by Tim Pelkey is a political thriller with a heavy emphasis on a conspiracy. Doctor Michael Callahan joined the World Health Organization’s Disaster Relief Team en route to Izmir without realizing that his life would never be the same afterward. He was there to offer medical help to the earthquake victims, not become lost in a terrifying world of terrorists who would not stop until they got what they wanted from the very beginning. Now, not only were they in danger, but the whole country was at a standstill. But what could a mere doctor do?

The Ottoman Excursion opens with action and carries that action until the end. There is no break or rest for readers. Once I started reading this story, I had a hard time putting it down, but this all-nighter felt very satisfying. Tim Pelkey weaves an intricate and very well-thought-out story that has enough suspense, mystery, and drama to lure readers in and grab their attention from the get-go. The author handled all four timelines incredibly well, and that made the whole story even more entertaining for me. I enjoyed the flow, the development arc of the characters, and the pace of the plot. The author left no stone unturned to make sure the story was entertaining and riveting from every angle. Each subplot acts as a stepping stone for the main plot so that the reader is not distracted and looks at the grand scheme of things and not just one particular aspect of the story. The Ottoman Excursion is a masterpiece. Even the cover is brilliant.
