A terrorist group is threatening to unleash a deadly virus on the government, and a man and his teenage sons are the only ones who can stop them in the thrilling dystopian novel, The Pulse (Greenlight Boys Book #1) by Daniel MacLagen. It has been five years since the Pulse, a viral infection, wiped out a large portion of the earth's population. Former Black ops specialist Dean Robertson lost his wife to the deadly virus. Left with his two sons, Danny and Alex, Dean started teaching them survival skills. While training the boys on a camping trip, Dean is abducted by a group of soldiers. Taken to their headquarters, he is coerced by his former Commanding Officer to locate the weapon in a hidden terrorist cell. Threatening Danny's and Alex's lives, the Colonel forcibly compels Dean to comply with his orders. Meanwhile, Danny and Alex are trailing their father's abductors, intending to rescue him, but instead are captured by the terrorists. With two different factions threatening their family, can the Robertsons come out of it alive?

The Pulse (Greenlight Boys Book #1) by Daniel MacLagen is a non-stop, heart-pumping, action-filled young adult novel. Brimming with excitement and danger from beginning to end, it is an unputdownable book. The storyline moves along at a fast pace, perfectly orchestrated with a stunning plotline, perfect story arc, and an explosive conclusion. The conflict between the two factions creates a fight against the clock, causing a sense of urgency to prevail throughout the storyline. It is an absorbing and riveting story, and I highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys dystopian thrillers filled combat action, explosions, and bloodshed.
