The Rich Guy’s Wife by Bonnie Traymore is a suspense novel set in New York City, where the glittering lights and sleek skyscrapers hide a world of secrets and scandals. Erin Donovan, raised in Brooklyn by a single mother, has long dreamed of a life beyond struggle. When Erin meets Stefan Ziegler, a charming businessman from a wealthy family, she sees a chance to live the glamorous life she's always dreamed of. As things take off with Stefan, Erin's life becomes a whirlwind of luxury and privilege. Behind the perfect facade of waterfront mansions, Erin discovers a world of infidelity, secrets, and obsessions. As Erin tries to navigate this glittering but treacherous world, she discovers that the price of becoming a rich man’s wife is steeper than she ever imagined.
What I loved most about this book is how Bonnie Traymore never lets the story feel predictable. From the prologue, the tension felt close, like I was right there in the room with Erin, holding my breath. The writing is direct, which made it easy to stay locked in, but what impressed me more was the way Traymore layered in atmosphere. The glitter of New York nights, the sharp chill of suspicion, and the Hamptons setting looked beautiful on the surface, yet carried an undercurrent of danger. Each setting feels alive and significant. The pacing is one of the book’s strongest qualities, as the suspense keeps rising naturally in every chapter. Erin is such a powerful character in the story. I really loved how she is shown with all her flaws and mixed feelings. Her goals and her insecurities are relatable, and that truth made me connect closely with her journey. I also liked how the book explores themes of courage, survival, and healing. I recommend The Rich Guy’s Wife by Bonnie Traymore to anyone who enjoys irresistibly addictive suspense.
