The Heir by KJ Moullen is the second book in The Spinner Sagas. Blaine is being held captive by ogres with her only ally being a mysterious stranger just as trapped as she is. She has no memory of who she is or how she ended up here. She quickly discovers that she’s capable of doing magic. Elsewhere, Elian is at a loss in his search for Blaine but is determined more than ever to find her and refuses to rest until she’s safely home. When Blaine receives a surprising rescue, she is reunited with old foes and in her journey back to Elian she makes some new allies. Blaine and Elian face a dangerous threat as they attempt to keep the Book safe and the evil spirit within it trapped, but their relationship faces new obstacles after Elian learns of a secret in Blaine’s destiny that could change everything.
The second installment in the saga delves into Blaine's journey as she faces the fear of captivity with no memory of who she is. Her memory loss puts her in an interesting position as she’s facing herself in a new way when she discovers magic for the first time and she barely scratches the surface of what she’s capable of doing. She must embark on a self-discovery journey which provides her with a new layer to herself as she slowly remembers what she lost. This introduces a few new characters with the main one being Andeous, who creates a connection with her through their shared captivity. Through him, you get a look at the gritty reality unfolding. The perspective weaves between Blaine in her attempt to free herself from the clutches of the ogre and Elian in his search for Blaine. Their relationship is at the heart of the story as KJ Moullen creates separate emotional journeys by weaving between them. The story moves out of her escape into a journey that finds Elian and Blaine teaming up to protect the Book from a dangerous threat. The Heir is an exciting second installment with action, adventure, romance, and destiny in a thrilling quest that delivers several surprises.
