This book is set in Hell On Earth, Missouri. Hell has risen from the depths and set up residency on Earth's surface. The economy is booming from the tourists. They sightsee in the daytime, snapping photos of the demons, the undead and other unholy creatures. Some make it back home.

Reece-anne and Sam were devoted to each other. Their love was deep and strong. The two had been assassins for the Old Man for several years but now wanted to be free. They were among the best, Reece with her shotgun and Sam with her katana. Then The Old Man, a crime lord that escaped from Hell, killed Sam in front of Reece. The evil Old Man fed off tourists and enjoyed inflicting pain. The Old Man needed Sam’s blood for a summoning. Reece is determined to avenge the death of Sam and to die doing it. She is so grief-stricken that she loses her mind.

The Old Man realizes he made a mistake by leaving Reece alive. He sends the summoning to destroy her, but the summoning resists the demands of The Old Man.

The Summoning Fire by David Michael has a well-developed plot. The plot moved back and forth through time, “before the fire,” and “after the fire.” This is an action-packed tale. The characters were interesting. I especially liked Reece. The scenes were very graphic, and filled with extreme violence. This story is not for the faint of heart; it is frightening and could give nightmares. I’m giving this book a 5 because it is well-done, and true horror fans will enjoy it.
