Author Biography

I love writing fantasy. This book is an expansion of the series where the focus is on a major battle of Magic to take place. There is a balance in all things and when it's disrupted, what or who takes the dominant position controls the balance.

Time of Awakening by Cheryl Rush Cowperthwait is the fourth book in The Legend of the Dragon Child series. The Teller of Tales, Yuri, and Forrest discover a map that sends them on a journey to find the Great Dragon, called Zelspar, who promises a home where dragons are free to live like dragons. The trio soon learns of another problem when they discover the arrival of a new threat bent on destroying the world. Meanwhile, John Clarey travels deep into the mountain, determined to get revenge for the death of his family which brings him face to face with a dragon.

Cheryl Rush Cowperthwait offers a new beginning for the trio after they discover a map leading to the whereabouts of a dragon haven. The trio each faces their own personal journey while still banding together and each feeling like they're starting on a new path. Yuri has the opportunity to explore a new world or stay behind with his closest allies. Forrest continues to learn more about the meaning of being a Teller and, through this, hitting upon the importance of carrying on the stories of dragons. His exploration of self and the understanding he achieves help set him up for a new adventure. Cowperthwait brings life to a fascinating world of dragons through charming characters, a dangerous threat, and the discovery of new beginnings. This paradise is an idealistic place that can shift and grow to fit all the needs of the dragons, which makes it the perfect drive for each of the characters.

Cowperthwait creates this perfect world that contrasts with the rising possibility of a world being destroyed. This gives the characters two reasons to fight back: to save a world from destruction and to journey to this amazing place. A place foretold like the legend of a truly happy place where dragon eggs are numerous and everyone is safe. The plot keeps you on your toes as the threat of the Red Dragons increases and the danger grows with softer moments between the characters woven in through their friendships and bonds. Cowperthwait has a lovely writing style which captures details that create beautiful images as the surroundings come to life, with descriptions such as the sky pushing back her covers to welcome a new day. Time of Awakening is perfect for those who love dragons, magic, and adventures which are woven together for an unforgettable story.

Time of Awakening: The Legend of the Dragon Child Book 4 takes place many years after the first book, The Legend Of The Dragon Child. It is modern times now and dragons are all but a myth to the people of earth. Still, there are the Teller Of Tales and a small number of dragons in hiding. A time is coming when the dragons of the earth will be offered the chance to return home, or to the place that the dragon hails have come to consider home. In this fourth installment of the series, we meet new characters like Lenonne who is a Teller Of Tales and her novice Forrest, as well as Lenonne’s dragon Yuri. The trio makes their way through various portals to find the place that the dragons call home. On this journey, they meet the legendary Zelspar, who is the old dragon we met back in book one. His spirit has returned multiple times in human and dragon form and it is he who welcomes the newcomers to the peaceful world of Avalon. It is from Zelspar that they learn how this place of dragons became the stuff of legends and stories. Their goal is to gather the earth dragons and bring them there so they need not hide anymore, but upon returning to accomplish this mission Zelspar and the others find that there is a bigger problem brewing.

Once again Cheryl Rush Cowperthwait has amazed me with how beautifully she can weave an amazing fantasy story. I have read the first book in the series and was deeply impressed by how she created such a great tale of fantasy. I hadn’t gotten a chance to read books two and three because this one popped up and I just couldn’t help myself. I love how she introduces these new characters and brings the story into modern times with modern problems. I was so happy to read that Zelspar lives on and was shocked to find out that he had even been another well known Arthurian character! That is another aspect of this book I enjoyed; how she incorporated King Arthur and legends into the mix in a perfect way so that it fits right into place. I have seen many an author have difficulties in doing this but Cowperthwait pulls it off flawlessly. After reading so books on various other subjects, it’s always a delight to step back and take your mind off real-life issues with a bit of fantasy. Time of Awakening has definitely done that for me!

Time of Awakening is a work of fantasy fiction set in a world of magical dragons and was penned by author Cheryl Rush Cowperthwait. Forming the fourth book in The Legend of the Dragon Child series, this finale to the epic adventures unleashes the true power and ancient legends of the dragon kind and what they can really do. We meet a new selection of characters including Lenonne, the Teller of Tales, as they quest to meet with Zelspar and discover his mission for them, as well as the danger that lurks beyond it now that all the scrolls have been discovered. What follows is an epic adventure where existence itself hangs in the balance.

Having enjoyed all the complexities and legends of the previous books in The Legend of the Dragon Child series, the opening to Time of Awakening comes as a bit of a fresh change of pace but soon turns back into the fascinating storyline we all know at love. It was wonderful to meet more new characters, and author Cheryl Rush Cowperthwait illustrates them beautifully with her well-chosen words. The new concepts, legends, missions, and quests are laid out in well-framed dialogue and explained seamlessly alongside the narration, so as not to make every moment of the story doom and gloom, (though there’s also plenty of both of those things). What results is a truly exciting and thoughtful conclusion to the series, making Time of Awakening a highly recommended read for fans of the series to devour.
