Todays of a Lifetime by Mariela G. George centers around Charlie-Mae, a spirited "Little Pirate" who sails on the Queen of the Tides, her family's trusty pirate ship. Joining her on this quest is her strong, protective father, her nurturing mother (who is also the ship's cook), and her adorable little sibling, Peanut, the energy of their little crew. Together, her family goes on an incredible quest to find the Rainbow Pearl, a mystical treasure that represents adventure and love. Their voyage is far from simple. Powerful storms and a scary sea serpent try to hinder their adventure. Nevertheless, Charlie-Mae and her family confront each new and surprising challenge with courage and support. Each trial brings them closer to their treasure. Will they finally find what they are searching for, or will the high seas claim their treasure for itself?

What makes Mariela G. George's Todays of a Lifetime an unforgettable children's adventure is the fact that it does not stop at just telling a story — it takes readers on a journey that uses creative and engaging activities to make them part of this captivating crew. Children can write their names in the book, add cherished pictures of loved ones, and include beautiful personal notes or heartfelt memories. This interactive style transforms reading into an experience where imagination and real-life events magically take shape. The illustrations by Gergana Mladin add liveliness to Charlie-Mae's adventure. There are many creative scenes of family bonding and close encounters with danger that make you feel like you have stepped into another world. By blending playful text with illustrations and personal activities, this superb book invites families to return to it again and again. Highly recommended.

Todays of a Lifetime by Mariela G. George is a tender and creative picture book that celebrates the bond between grandparents and their grandchildren. It centers on a little ‘pirate’ captain and her crew on magical quests aboard the Queen of the Tides, with her older loved ones at the wheel, steering the ship. Everyday moments, like taking first steps, family gatherings, and playful memories, become magnificent voyages filled with wonder, courage, and heart. It’s also hands-on, with designated spaces to personalize with names, photos, and much, much more. The message is how life’s greatest treasures aren’t jewels or crowns, but the love and laughter found in our closest relationships.

Todays of a Lifetime by Mariela G. George is a delightful, fun read that I enjoyed. I was impressed from the beginning because it opens with a note from the author that encourages families to treat this book as both an exploration and a memento. As an educator, I also valued the rebus format and how the key for the pictures was provided, making it easy for kids to follow along. Using pictures in place of words gives early readers a boost of confidence as they start to read on their own. The rhymes make the text fun to follow while also helping kids develop their language skills. It could be shared during circle time or show-and-tell, where children can enjoy reading to their friends, and students can discuss what they do with their own relatives. The imaginative, colorful illustrations by Gergana Mladin bring this tale to life, making it both engaging and memorable. Overall, this story blends learning with joy, making it a meaningful addition to both home and classroom reading.
