Transcending Sexual Trauma: Self-Awareness Tools and Nature-Based Practices to Cultivate Inner Healing by Dina Saalisi is an audiobook for every woman who has ever been assaulted emotionally, psychologically, or physically. In this book, the author shares sixteen practices to reclaim one’s life, heal, and renew after suffering from abuse. The book is divided into four sections, each dealing with a specific aspect of the healing journey. The first explores getting to know yourself; the second discusses the importance of allies; the third explores the secrets of nature and how it heals; and the fourth focuses on tools to help you embrace wholeness.
Transcending Sexual Trauma is one of the best books on trauma I have experienced, and the part that impressed me the most was when the author shared her nature-based practices and her unique way of talking about sexuality and self-awareness. This author made me feel like trauma can be a key to reclaiming one’s life and building it back better. She addresses sensitive areas of trauma, such as the sense of guilt and the feeling of unworthiness, and provides a path to building self-worth. Dina Saalisi opened my eyes to a new understanding of responsibility, body-mind-connection, finding strength, wisdom, and healing in spiritual exercises. Using her personal journals and her own experience of trauma, she speaks from a place that is familiar to her. I have highlighted sections of this book that touched me the most, but there is so much wisdom and light in it that you will listen and want to share it with others.
Dina Saalisi narrates this book herself, and the audio is so clear that you can’t miss a point. There is a charm in her voice, which is confident and soothing at the same time, and I quickly became drawn to it. Overall, this audiobook provided a great experience for me, and the way I look at myself, even if I haven’t had the kind of trauma explored in this book.
