Sally M. Veillette and Yuqi Sun have brought back a Christmas classic for the ages. The authors retell Clement Clarke Moore's famous Christmas poem from 1823 on its 200th anniversary. Both English and Chinese translations appear in this heartwarming version, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas: 200th Anniversary Edition. On Christmas Eve, a father lies awake while his wife and children are asleep, waiting for Saint Nicholas to come and leave toys for the kids. Soon, Santa arrives on his sled from the North Pole, driven by his eight reindeer. To the father's surprise, Santa lands on the rooftop and enters the house through the chimney with a bundle full of toys. He is plump and full of laughter, bringing toys and joy to everyone at Christmas.
It's undeniable that Clement Clarke Moore's influential Christmas poem left a lasting legacy. With this beautifully presented edition, Sally M. Veillette and Yuqi Sun pay a fitting tribute to the man and his work. The authors make it possible for the new generation of readers to enjoy Clarke's legendary poem in both English and Chinese. The lively illustrations are bound to make for an even more fun reading experience, especially for youngsters. The rhyming verses and beautifully drawn illustrations complement each other very well and flawlessly capture the spirit of the original work. 'Twas the Night Before Christmas is a celebration of the Christmas spirit and a wholesome example of how the holiday brings people together regardless of country, ethnicity, or race. I absolutely loved this book and can't recommend it highly enough!
