Valentine Bride by Shanna Hatfield is a sweet country romance that will have you swooning. Matilda Dale loves to cause a scene. Whether it is by dressing outrageously or saying something scandalous, Matilda has done it all and show no clears signs of stopping. Her latest scheme involves hooking up her granddaughter, Fynlee, with her best friend's (Ruth) nephew, Carson. In this hilarious contemporary romance novel, Matilda and Ruth pull some comedic antics in the hopes that these two will get together. Will Carson and Fynlee submit to their schemes? Is love possible between the two? Or will it be a failed endeavor?
I enjoyed reading Valentine Bride by Shanna Hatfield. I loved the characters of Ruth and Matilda the most. Fynlee and Carson's romantic adventures were sweet. This book is a quick read and fast paced. The main characters are well written, with the side characters needing a little more development. The chemistry and love between characters, whether it is aunt and nephew or granddaughter and grandmother, are realistically written and come through clearly in their dialogue and actions. I loved the wholesome quality of the book, showing that sex is not a necessary requirement to have a good book, and that the characters were learning about each other without the added confusion of sexual tension. I recommend this book to readers who love sweet romance novels filled with fun loving and scheming relatives, also to readers who love witty and flirtatious banter between their favorite couple.
