Author Biography

I’m Benjamin McGreevy, a lifelong student of Scripture and a passionate believer in sharing the depth and beauty of God’s Word. From a young age, I found myself captivated not just by the stories of the Bible, but by the intricate wisdom and love woven throughout every verse. This curiosity eventually led me to pursue advanced studies in Christian apologetics, where I explored the harmony between reason and faith, and the profound truths that Scripture reveals about God and His creation.
Verse by Verse: A Daily Devotional Through the Whole Bible was inspired by a simple desire: to help readers encounter the Bible in a way that feels personal, practical, and transformative. I wanted to create a resource that doesn’t just explain verses, but invites reflection, encourages dialogue, and nurtures a closer walk with God. Each reflection is the result of years of study, meditation, and prayer—an attempt to make the Word accessible to anyone seeking understanding, whether they are new to Scripture or have been studying it for decades.
Ultimately, my hope is that this book serves as a companion for daily life, guiding readers through the Bible one verse at a time, and revealing the timeless relevance of God’s love, wisdom, and guidance. Writing it was both a labor of devotion and a joy, and I pray that those who read it will experience the same encouragement and insight that inspired me to write it in the first place.

Verse by Verse: A Daily Devotional Through the Whole Bible, Volume 1 by Benjamin McGreevy is a meticulously delivered verse-by-verse examination of the Bible, starting with the opening chapters of the book of Genesis. This is the first volume in what the author intends to be a comprehensive discussion of the 66 biblical books. I was fascinated by the author’s ingenious plan to follow the conviction that “All Scripture is God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16) and walk you through each verse while exploring the bigger context of the Scripture and other elements that bring clarity to each verse. The reflections are grounded in careful exegesis, and they connect ancient scriptural texts to contemporary spirituality in a way that demands meditative engagement with the texts.

Benjamin McGreevy’s book is a spiritual gift for those seeking intimacy with God. The author gives a step-by-step guide for preparing to read each verse. The book provides questions that accompany each chapter, and these questions will help you identify the core message of each verse, the character of God, a command to be obeyed, and how the verse connects with the bigger plan of God for humanity. The book also includes tools for journaling, making it even more interactive. Verse by Verse is a devotional that explores the verses, focusing on God’s intentional design in creation, the painful rupture through sin, the recurring plan of redemption, and more. I was impressed by how well the author incorporates the trinitarian theology into Genesis and how effectively he identifies Christ as the creative word. The voice is a blend of scholarly insight and pastoral warmth, engaging and authoritative. I look forward to the second book in this collection.

Verse by Verse is a Christian daily devotional that presents a verse-by-verse exposition of early Genesis that proceeds in strict biblical order, explaining what each passage states, how events progress, and how God’s actions structure history. Benjamin Michael McGreevy moves sequentially from creation to the emergence of Abram, treating Scripture as a continuous record rather than isolated passages. He explains how God brings the universe into existence, establishes time, space, life, and order, then records humanity’s expansion, moral collapse, judgment through the Flood, and preservation through Noah. The devotional then traces how the world is repopulated through Noah’s sons, how nations form through identifiable family lines, and how power, geography, and language develop across generations. Genealogies are handled as chronological records that connect events and locations across the centuries. The work culminates in narrowing human history from many nations to a single family line, ending with Terah’s household and Abram’s emergence, setting the historical groundwork for the covenant that follows in later Scripture.

Verse by Verse by Benjamin Michael McGreevy is an excellent, very accessible way for a reader to intentionally slow down and move through the Bible, one day and one verse at a time. I like that McGreevy breaks the verse down, explains what it means, and follows it with reflection prompts. The writing is straightforward and easy to understand, which, for me, was most important when reading passages that include long family records and unfamiliar names. McGreevy treats the Bible as a trustworthy record of God’s actions in history. It is formatted for daily reading and personal study, but I can see how well the devotional would work in a group study, or as an evening discussion for a family or couple. McGreevy does not rush the reader or talk down to them. Instead, he encourages patience, consistency, and respect for God’s word. For those seeking a better understanding of scripture, this devotional is a strong place to begin.

Verse by Verse: A Daily Devotional Through the Whole Bible by Benjamin McGreevy is an eye-opener for those seeking to understand God and His love for His most important creation, mankind. By delving deep into the scriptures, Benjamin reveals God’s wonderful message as we’ve never seen it before. From the catastrophic Great Flood in Genesis to the famous occurrence at the Tower of Babel, Verse by Verse covers it all. Benjamin reminds us that it is the same God we worship today as the one worshipped in the Bible; never changing and all-powerful, yet always merciful and compassionate. Benjamin uses Noah’s obedience and faith in God as an example of what it means to truly be a Christian, offering his own personal insight, including the struggles he faced in his relationship with God and how he overcame them. Verse by Verse is a life-changer, and I urge readers to invest in this powerful guide.

Motivating and inspirational, Verse by Verse: A Daily Devotional Through the Whole Bible will change the way you see the Holy Book. If you thought that God was a vengeful spirit who dealt out punishments harshly, Verse by Verse offers a different insight. There’s a section called Your Reflections after each chapter, which Benjamin McGreevy urges readers to use, including a guideline that will encourage readers in their new journey with the Lord. I learned many interesting things in reading Verse by Verse, and so will all readers. I highly recommend this book; it is truly worth every minute spent reading it.

“From Genesis to Revelation, every word matters.” As BenjaminMcGreevy points out in the Introduction to his book, Verse by Verse, people often study the Bible piecemeal, focusing on the most familiar stories, such as Noah’s Ark and the many stories of Jesus from His birth to His death on the cross. People tend to forget that every story in the Bible matters, since every story is the Word of God. Even Jesus confirmed in Matthew 4:4 that people need more than bread to live; they also need God’s words. Life is a journey, and so is the thorough study of God’s words. One must reflect on the Divine purpose of God’s words throughout the Bible.

Verse by Verse: A Daily Devotional Through the Whole Bible is Volume 1 of Benjamin McGreevy’s biblical study guide. With great detail, clarity, and considerable insight into the Word of God throughout, the author leads the reader on a spiritual and inspirational journey. With an insightful Introduction, the author also provides a Practical Guide for personal reflections on the studies to follow, including the good advice to prepare one’s heart for the journey. Each section provides space for the reader to jot down their own reflections. Each chapter also provides points on some key takeaways to help the reader further their understanding and enrich their ongoing journey. This volume concludes with some suggestions on how readers can help others find their own personal journeys through God’s Word. This is a great resource for those seeking the light and hoping to be guided on their spiritual journey of following the powerful Word of God.

Benjamin McGreevy’s Verse by Verse is an inspirational book that is the first in a series of devotional writings, a journey through the scriptures that helps readers meditate, reflect, and pray with the Bible. The book is intended to help anyone gain a deeper understanding of the Bible, interact with and internalize its teachings, while transforming personal life. This book will take you through the Bible, starting with the book of Genesis. It emphasizes that Scripture is divinely inspired and delivered to us for a purpose. You will understand why it is important to have a careful verse-by-verse meditation on God’s word and the importance of understanding the unified message of the Bible. This book is well-written to help anyone think about spiritual things, pray, and actively engage with the spiritual currents that move through the scriptures.

I enjoyed Verse by Verse, which should not be rushed. Reading a chapter per day is ideal for maximum effect. In this book, you will go through many verses of the Bible. It is structured to answer the questions: What does the verse teach me? How does it reveal God’s power, faithfulness, and wisdom? What does God ask me to do here? Is there a truth to accept, a promise to claim, or an action to obey? I enjoyed this book because it compelled me to look beyond the verses to understand the broader message of the Bible. I also loved the fact that it provides a lot of questions for reflection and gives readers spaces to use for notes and reflection. Benjamin McGreevy writes with grace, and the tone is confident and compassionate. This book is a gift of faith, the kind you want to share with a loved one.
