From a five-gallon bucket of seashells to an analogical essay to a fully-fledged book of devotions, Dennis A. Borden has brought Vivid Brushstrokes: The Overlooked Reality of God in Our Daily Lives from a simple observation to a means of inspiring devotion to our creator. The author has followed the example which Christ himself set when he used the simplest of things in order to teach the deepest concepts of heaven, earth, and spirituality through the use of parables. The truths that are so simply brought to life in this book come from the modern world and are the things that tend to be overlooked. However, for someone who is open to allowing God’s spirit to fill him/her, they can be useful for illuminating even the most difficult concepts.
God has indeed used a colorful palette as he painted the portrait of heaven and earth. Vivid Brushstrokes certainly brings those colors into focus as Dennis A. Borden reveals some of the deeper concepts of daily living through his delightful and inspiring anecdotes and word pictures. This is a simple, down-home, and easy-to-read collection of stories and devotions that will not only inspire and encourage, but leave the reader thoughtful as he considers the wonders of God’s handiwork on a daily basis. An excellent and inspired aid to continued Christian growth and daily maintenance of the Christian walk of faith. Pastors and laymen alike will find pure gold liberally painted throughout this book. It cannot be overlooked.
