Welcome to the Amazing Forest Town of Squirrelsville is a children’s picture book by Paul L. Padgett with illustrations by Moch Fajar Shobaru. Nestled deep in the forest, tucked away from prying eyes, is the jolly town of Squirrelsville. The squirrels came together to build their beloved town and continue to help one another during their day-to-day activities. Police Chief Woody keeps both the forest and Squirrelsville safe, as the young ones run around having fun, and should they fall, the doctor is always there to treat any boo-boos. Step into the colorful world of Squirrelsville, where you’ll meet the lovable squirrels as they work together to keep the forest safe for everyone.
I like how Welcome to the Amazing Forest Town of Squirrelsville has sound morals at its core. The book did a great job of demonstrating the benefits of having good morals and camaraderie. The inclusion of a glossary was a nice touch too, as now even the youngest of readers will have no trouble reading this book by themselves. The story itself was fun and cleverly reinforced the importance of teamwork throughout. The delightful illustrations complemented the tone of Paul L. Padgett’s tale and added to the experience. Each image was unique and conveyed both the actions and emotions of the characters. The forest and Squirrelsville were vibrant yet detailed, and the cute squirrels were beyond adorable. The book ticked the right boxes for me. It had morals front and center, plus a good story topped off with amazing illustrations.
