Too many of us were raised to be silent in church and not take a leadership role, other than teaching children. It is difficult for many to break that cycle. In the Old Testament, women were considered property and treated poorly. Ms. Jaynes points out that women are worthy in the eyes of God. God created everyone, including women. He intended that a woman walk alongside her husband and be a help mate. God delights in his creation. Jesus showed respect and compassion for the women he met. The author uses stories of Biblical women: Mary, mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, the woman at the well, the woman with an issue, and others to show us how Jesus had a plan to use these women in his ministry. Jaynes made the characters come to life on the pages of this book.
“He(Jesus) did not set women free only to be quarantined in the new order called the church. He set women free to go out into the world to tell the Good News of the gospel and to work among believers to build the body of Christ.” Women do matter and God cares for them. I recommend this book for women in all walks of life.
