An attorney's life becomes more complicated when the judge presiding over her case takes a starring role in her nightmares depicting her mother's violent death in the stunning legal mystery When Next We Meet by JB Millhollin. When she was five years old, Ann Jackson witnessed a man murdering her mother. Twenty years later, Ann is in a loving relationship and is a newly hired lawyer in a small firm. Although everything else in her life is going well, Ann is still experiencing weekly nightmares of her mother's murder. When Ann faces the misogynistic and malevolent Judge Dunn in her second trial, her nightly terrors increase and take a horrifying and unexpected turn. During the past two decades, not one of Ann's dreams depicted her mother's killer's face. It always remained a blur - until now. Now, Judge Dunn's features fill in the anonymous killer's visage and haunt her nightmares, killing her mother on a nightly basis. When Ann discovers a piece of evidence she forgot so many years ago, she hires a detective to investigate. Is Judge Dunn the killer?
Including courtroom drama and brimming with suspense, When Next We Meet by JB Millhollin is a sensational murder mystery. Beginning with the protagonist's childhood trauma and smoothly segueing into the present, the novel is captivating. The story contains an evil villain, an absorbing plot, compelling protagonists, and an unexpected twist within the storyline. I loved the courtroom scenes and applauded Ann's ability to stand up to the judge's abuse of his power, although it could have landed her in jail. It is a brilliant novel that promises to thrill and entertain everyone who relishes fiendish villains and shocking suspenseful murder mysteries with a hint of romance.
