Denise Frisino’s Where Butterflies Gather follows the beloved “Gang of Five” from July 1943 through the Second World War and into the first days of a fragile peace. Billi Huntington is secretly serving as a Coast Guard SPAR under her sister-in-law's name and must rebuild her marriage to Jack. Jack is still hunting Akio Sumiyoshi, the spymaster who has dogged their every step since Pearl Harbor. The reconciliation is not easy for them as they navigate dangers that reach the internment camp where Billi's dearest friend Eileen now lives. Billi is also fighting to regain her health, but Jack must defend his family from an enemy intent on destroying him completely after taking so much from them already. The war unfolds on many fronts, including Billi's brother Eddy’s activities in the Pacific and nurse Dahlia tending to the wounded. When the guns fall silent, will Jack succeed in taking out the one person whose existence threatens everything important to him?

Denise Frisino’s Where Butterflies Gather is the exciting finale to the Orchids Trilogy. It is a compelling historical work focused on World War II. Denise Frisino delivers pacing that is thunderous, with explosive action ranging from a night crossing of the Rhine to kamikazes slamming Bunker Hill. The author’s examination of friendship, sacrifice, healing after loss, and internment illuminates the story. In the author’s deft hands, historical events morph beautifully into fiction, the tension grows with the vendetta, and the setting glows with details that fit neatly into the period. It is a spellbinding story with unforgettable characters and prose that sings.
