Whiskers and the Cat Café by Susan Montgomery is a tale of Friendships and Forever Homes. Whiskers, Sunny, Socks, and Fluffy all live in a cozy Cat Café, waiting for their forever homes. Whiskers loves playing with visitors to the Café, but he really wants a loving home. Jack loves visiting the Cat Café and playing with all the cats and, one day, Whiskers leaps into his arms and cuddles down, purring away. Could this be the day he gets a new home?
Whiskers and the Cat Café by Susan Montgomery is a heartwarming tale filled with colorful illustrations by the author. It’s more than just a tale, though. It tells of friendship and happiness, and it educates on what Cat Cafés are there for; to take in rescue cats and try to find them warm homes with a new forever family, and to find that family a new best friend. In this interactive story, kids are tasked with finding the toy mouse on every page. At the end, there are discussion questions to see how well readers took note, some cat care tips, and a little teaching guide on how to draw a Café cat. And finally, readers learn about a real Cat Café and how it works. I’ve been to a Cat Café, and I can confirm you really will leave with a smile on your face! This is a good way to educate kids on animal care and what both owner and cat can get out of a forever friendship. There should be more books like this, and I think perhaps every Cat Café should have a copy of this on display!
