Wings of Fate by Skye Horn follows Thea Gilbert, a young woman looking for the truth behind her identity, who finds that it is the farthest from what she could have imagined. Thea takes a trip to Ireland, the place where her birth parents left her, hoping to find answers. However, what she finds is a handsome yet familiar stranger…with wings. Thea is pulled into a world with faeries and magic and is tasked with helping protect this new world from the darkness that seeks to overtake it all.

Wings of Fate by Skye Horn definitely has it all from a crazy king, fated lovers, and a dark and brooding sister and there’s even a unicorn. The book never allowed for a dull moment in this fast-paced fantasy world and I enjoyed every minute of reading it. The various themes from soul mates to sisterly bonds ensured that the story was never too one-dimensional in its focus and gave the reader ample time to enjoy the various aspects of the faerie kingdom. The characters were so well written and were allowed to grow within their own rights throughout the story. I loved Thea and Kieran’s relationship although it did seem a bit fast-paced, but considering the circumstances and the fact that I’m a hopeless romantic, I let it go. Overall, this book was such a pleasure to read and I absolutely look forward to what comes next in the story. I would definitely recommend this book to all fantasy lovers.

Everyone needs a place to call home. Skye Horn introduces Thea Gilbert’s search for answers in her novel Wings of Fate. Thea has been looking for her biological parents in Ireland. Her adoptive parents had always made Thea feel loved, but when they died in a car accident, she felt abandoned again. Lightning strikes next to Thea, and she sees a man step from the spot. Kieran is a Fae guard who wants to bring her through the threshold. However, a sinister shadow follows him and attacks the pair. Thea awakens in a cottage and meets Iris and Ethel. Thea learns she is in Grimwalde and is a princess. Kieran tells her about her family’s history. What bothers Thea is her father killed her mother and Amara is her sister. Therefore, Thea faces the quandary of how she is going to right the wrongs of the past.

I could see Thea’s turmoil. First, she thought her parents abandoned her, and then she lost her adoptive family. Horn weaves a story involving psychological issues with magical elements. I felt disappointed with some of Thea’s decisions, but this also shows how she grows throughout the story. I understood why Kieran wishes to kill Thea’s father and felt betrayal from Thea, who doesn’t want death to be his fate. Vivid depictions of the scenery and the characters made it easy for me to envision every part of the book. I could feel the pain and passion Thea and Kieran felt as the story unfolded. There is never a dull moment in Wings of Fate. Readers who like fantasy stories with a mixed array of unicorns, Pegasuses, and more will enjoy this book. The cliffhanger ending has me expecting the sequel.

Thea Gilbert's parents died in a car accident and she left Colorado to go to Ireland after she heard she was adopted and that her biological parents abandoned her fifteen years ago. Resting her hands on the ground at the base of the Hill of Knockainey where she was abandoned, she wondered what connection her biological parents had with this place. Lightning struck the spot in front of her and, while crouching, she saw a soft glow on the ground and heard voices. Kieran was on the other side of the threshold and felt her presence. He knew she could not have opened it as she had lived in a world without magic for fifteen years. Thea was shocked to see a man with wings like a raven step over the threshold and, as the clouds shifted, she recognized him. Together they fight against the evil in Wings of Fate: A Kingdoms of Faerie Novel by Skye Horn.

The plot in Wings of Fate: A Kingdoms of Faerie Novel by Skye Horn is complicated and has fantasy and faerie elements. The story is fast-paced and had my attention from the start. I could not stop reading. There is a lot of magic and the story is engaging. I was plunged into a magical world with mythical creatures and goddesses. It was well written and exciting, and the fight between good and evil was skillfully handled. The characters were extraordinary and described in such a way that I felt like I knew them. I enjoyed the romance between Thea and Kieran and the way they complemented each other. The suspense had me on the edge of my seat, and I could not wait to see what was going to happen next. The end was a big surprise and nothing at all I expected.
