Longing for Love by Chris the Maverick is a passionate love story between Hakan and Niki, and how fate plays a role in bringing them together. Set against the exotic backdrop of Thailand, the story takes readers through the pain and disappointment experienced by both Hakan and Nikki in their respective lives and their refusal to give up on life, despite the setbacks. Hakan is experienced, mature and passionate about life and living, while Niki is full of enthusiasm and has a zest for living. What happens when these two contrasting characters meet? Will Niki be the woman Hakan is looking for?
The love story is exotic like the backdrop, and the blend of eastern and western cultures gives it an edge compared to the usual romances. All the characters are well portrayed and memorable and readers can connect well with them. I like the way the author has sketched both Hakan and Niki too; their contrasting characters complement each other yet create a lasting impression in the minds of readers with their individuality. This smooth read will leave lingering thoughts in the minds of readers about Hakan, Niki, and their attraction and love for each other. Love can change things in a matter of seconds, and without any warning - the story reiterates that fact and keeps readers glued till the very end. The book is fast paced and has its heart wrenching moments.
