Set during World War II, A Christmas Mouse by Bryn Roar is a holiday drama. Two little mice named Mistletoe and Merry live on the sprawling farm owned by the Gribble family. Unlike other mice, Mistletoe and Merry were injected with an anti-aging serum in a lab that prolonged their lives and made them hyper-aware and intelligent. After the cruel and vengeful red tabby, Ebeneezer (Ebby), kills Mistletoe, a pregnant Merry finds sanctuary in the Bright family's Nativity set they brought home for the holidays. Meanwhile, mother Abbaline receives the tragic news about her husband Harry's death in Germany. With Ebby determined to target Merry and her babies and Jack the Redbird severely injured, can Merry protect herself and her family? Will the Gribble family find hope this Christmas?

A Christmas Mouse is a heartfelt tale about faith, hope, and family. Borrowing a few elements from science fiction, author Bryn Roar weaves an enthralling yarn that tugs at your heartstrings and leaves you wanting more. The characters are kind-hearted and compassionate people who charm their way into your heart. Merry, Jack, and the members of the Bright and Gribble families will bring a lot of joy and bittersweet tears to readers. Ebby is a formidable villain who raises the stakes every time he's on the page. Roar excels at capturing the spirit of Christmas in a way that is profound and powerful. I loved the ending, as it tied up all the plot threads in a neat bow. The last few pages illustrate how hope prevails through sacrifice. I heartily recommend this book to young adults and older readers.
