The Novel Detectives are convening yet again for another case after the body of an assistant athletics coach is found at the local high school. The mystery becomes stranger when Josh Bynum, a teacher at the school, shows up asking for help. He has blood on his hands and no clue how it got there. He fears something horrible may have happened. Something about the situation doesn’t add up, but Annie and Fletcher don’t think Josh killed anyone. The only question is, can they prove it? The two dive into the world of high school sports, where they uncover surprising secrets surrounding the fundraisers, star athletes, and their parents. The only thing they know for sure is that there’s a lot to lose and plenty of motive for murder.
This is an engaging mystery by Ellie Alexander, bringing you back into this delightful town and leaving you wanting more. The mystery is full of twists and turns, keeping you flipping the page to see what happens next. Fletcher and Annie make the ultimate sleuthing duo, bringing charm and humor into the story as they tackle another mystery. Their antics are delightful, with each sleuthing moment reminiscent of classic mysteries. You can easily see how much fun they’re having investigating and putting suspects in the ‘hot seat’ with interrogations. Their dynamic makes the mystery lighthearted.
