A Dime to Say I Love You by Kathryn Henry is a touching, spiritually resonant memoir about the journey through grief after the loss of a beloved spouse. When Lisa, the author’s wife, dies from an aggressive cancer, Henry finds herself navigating an unfamiliar world of sorrow and transformation. But rather than staying trapped in pain, she opens herself to the signs Lisa leaves behind, particularly the mysterious appearance of dimes. And so she begins to see grief not just as absence, but as a continuing connection. Through tender memories, shared adventures, and reflective chapters, Henry turns her mourning into a sacred process of healing, illustrating how love can endure beyond death and how the heart expands even in the face of loss.

Author Kathryn Henry has one of those warm and tender voices you just fall for immediately, and she writes with such raw honesty and gentle insight that I found myself pausing often just to sit with her wise words. I loved how the memoir didn’t just recount Lisa’s passing in terms of pain and loss. It celebrated her life and their special and very loving bond in a story told with humor, intimacy, and grace. The inclusion of reflection prompts made the book even more personal, as if the book was guiding me through my own heart and the people I've lost over time, not just the author's. And those dimes were such a wonderful metaphor, so simple, small, but deeply meaningful. They became a beautiful motif for the quiet ways love continues to reach out. Overall, A Dime to Say I Love You is a deeply comforting read for anyone grieving or searching for signs that love truly never ends.
