A Dolphin Lost… A Daughter Found: Learning To Swim With Porpoise by Trisha Simmons is a lovely mini musical about a young dolphin scared of venturing into the wide ocean. One day, deep in the ocean, Amari, a young dolphin, fires many questions at Fairy Godmother, her guardian. When Fairy Godmother inquires about the reason for the many questions, Amari reveals that she is scared of leaving the pod to live on her own. Then the duo breaks into the sweetest song ever, about love, encouragement, and promise.
A Dolphin Lost… A Daughter Found is the most charming audiobook. The narration was a little under four minutes, and the plot was straightforward, yet it touched on a couple of important issues, including love and coming of age. I loved the plot, and I loved the two main characters. I especially loved the sincerity with which Fairy Godmother and Amari expressed their feelings.
The highlight of this book, however, was the narration. I cannot sufficiently describe how beautiful and melodious the music was. I was fascinated by both the voice and the tune. The whole narration was equally enjoyable and seamless. I loved that the Fairy Godmother’s and Amari’s voices were distinguishable. I also like the background ocean sound; it created an underwater setting. This beautiful story and music, enhanced by Trisha Simmons’ voice, were such a delight. Trisha is a fantastic writer, voice artist, and singer, and I’m in awe. I only wish that this book were longer.
