A Hearts Anchor: A Platinum Chocolate Romance by Long Temple is a heartwarming romance novella. Rushing to her post-surgery voice therapy, Kianna collides with Marcus, a police officer. Much to her surprise, Kianna meets Marcus again at her next therapy session. These fleeting encounters lead to passionate dates. For the first time in five years, Kianna feels excited about her budding romance and looks forward to every date with Marcus. But when Marcus invites Kianna to meet his daughters, she panics. Marcus’s invitation makes her feel as though it is bound to shatter the reclusive comfort zone she created for herself. Torn by her affection for Marcus and the fear of losing her solitary comfort, Kianna feels undecided and overwhelmed. Will Kianna find the strength to let go of her misgivings?
Long Temple’s A Hearts Anchor was a delightful story. I liked the family, relationships, and romance threads with all the undercurrents of Kianna’s complex mindset and misgivings. The portrayal of Kianna’s worries, concerns, and behaviors felt exceptionally relatable and thought-provoking. I liked Kianna's supportive relationship with her daughter and the lovely humor as Kianna’s grandchildren expressed their thoughts on her relationship with Marcus. Every episode revealed something new about Kianna and Marcus, helping me to understand them better. I enjoyed discovering how their relationship evolved, and, as I sympathized with Kianna, it was Marcus who won my heart. Every scene in this book was heartwarming in its way, but most of all, I liked how Kianna's and Marcus’s children responded to their relationship.
The audiobook was narrated by a virtual voice, and I marveled at the awesome recording quality. The virtual voice was female and interlaced Kianna’s storytelling with a third-person perspective. The narration was distinct and perfectly paced. The pitch and tone reflected the emotions of the characters. All in all, my listening experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and I highly recommend it to adult romance fans.
