Laura Armstrong and Ben Fieldstone were meant to be together. Each lives a very hard life before they finally meet. Ben's parents are killed when a meteorite hits while they are vacationing. He goes into foster care and does not have a happy home life. His life goes downhill from that with drinking and women. He hits rock bottom and his friend Andy helps him find a job and Ben turns his life around. Laura was raised by surrogate parents who knew their daughter had special abilities. She befriends an older gentleman that everyone says is a hermit. One day her home goes up in flames and both of her parents perish. In college her roommate is brutally murdered, then at her job after graduation a colleague loses it and kills Laura's boss telling her he is making him do it. Laura later finds out that she has a brother and he is determined to kill her. With help from Ben and her friend Mr. B, Laura prepares to meet the evil that is her brother.

The book follows Laura and Ben throughout their lives, until they finally meet and are thrown into a life and death struggle. Laura's character is very compassionate and she wants to make everyone around her better. She helps Ben come to terms with his parents' deaths, and uses her healing powers on her friend Mr. B. Ben's character is troubled and on a destructive path until the night he is saved from death. The characters compliment each other in many ways and bring out the best in each other. The story line flows well throughout the book and it is very easy to follow. The author's imagination takes us on a journey and gives us a glimpse into another world out there in space. Though it is not the usual genre I would most like to read, I did enjoy this book and think others will too.
