A.D. Trosper promises readers grand new adventures with her short story A New Beginning. The land of Galdrilene is a dangerous, yet magical land, but Emallya has simpler dreams for her life. She longs to have the domestic joys her mother has achieved: a husband to love her, children to care for, and a loving home, but sometimes life has more planned than could ever be expected. When her town is attacked by the Kojen and Shadow Riders, Emallya is shocked to find she has been called to a noble fate, that of the life of a Dragon Rider.
A.D. Trosper’s short story, A New Beginning, is a thrilling read of fantasy adventure. The battles are striking and the enemies are equally as frightful. Emallya is a strong heroine who grasps her calling with grace, bravery, and resolve, and the chemistry between her and the rakish dragon rider Bardeck is strong for such a little amount of space in which to develop. Trosper’s tale is just what fantasy readers search for, and my only complaint is that after I turned the last page I wanted there to be more. I foresee grand adventures for Emallya, and I hope to be a part of them. This installment makes me want to delve into the rest of the world of Galdrilene. If the action and excitement of this tale is comparable to her Dragon’s Call series, then I am already quite a fan. I highly recommend this magical story to any fan of high fantasy and adventure, and I will be eagerly awaiting a chance to read A.D. Trosper’s first book in the Dragon’s Call series, Embers at Galdrilene.
