Adam and Ava . . . and Isabelita is a children's picture book written by Betty Collier, with illustrations by Cassandra Harris. The story follows twins Adam and Ava Albright as they discuss immigrants and the importance of kindness. Ava shares her experience meeting Isabelita, a new girl at school whom everyone avoids because she is an immigrant. Ava decides to befriend Isabelita and has a great time playing and sharing stories with her. At the end of the day, their teacher gives Ava a special card, thanking her for showing kindness and empathy. Ava then asks her parents if Isabelita can come over to play, and they gladly agree. The whole family decides to welcome Isabelita and her family. Join Adam and Ava as they gain a new friend and learn the value of kindness.

Adam and Ava . . . and Isabelita is the third installment in the Adam and Ava Books series. In this episode, the twins teach children about immigrants and why it is important to embrace diversity and show empathy. Betty Collier addresses the topic of immigration with great respect and sensitivity, explaining it in a way that children can comprehend and relate to. She highlights the struggles that lead many to flee their countries and the discrimination they often face. Despite dealing with a challenging subject, the author incorporates humorous moments, such as Adam mistakenly using the word 'important' instead of 'immigrant'. These lighthearted touches make the story engaging and enjoyable. The vibrant illustrations perfectly complement the narrative and bring the characters to life. This book encourages open conversations between children, parents, and teachers about immigrants. I highly recommend adding it to your children's reading list.
