Some turning points arrive when you least expect them. In Allison Turns the Page by Leslie A. Rasmussen, Allison has already achieved something most authors only dream about: writing a bestselling novel. Now she has to figure out what comes next. Writing another book proves more difficult than she expected, and setbacks leave her questioning whether she was ever meant to be a writer. Romance isn't much easier. She can't stop thinking about James, a man she meets by chance and feels an immediate connection with. They run into each other a few times, but circumstances keep getting in their way. Then Aidan, the boy who broke her heart years ago, reenters her life. He is kind, romantic, and supportive, giving her reason to wonder whether someone from her past could be part of her future. Meanwhile, her family and friends have plenty of opinions, and her insecurities make it hard to trust her feelings. With her career uncertain and two men on her mind, she must decide what she really wants. Can Allison turn the page on disappointment and finally write the next chapter of her own life?
Allison Turns the Page by Leslie A. Rasmussen made me laugh, think, and at times almost cry. The first time I laughed out loud was when her mother declared, “Meatloaf knows no time.” It was silly, and that was when the wit and sarcasm in the story really clicked for me. On the other hand, watching Allison break down in tears with Aidan over her book not selling got to me. His response showed just how sweet and supportive he could be. Rasmussen balanced humor, insecurity, emotional moments, and romance while keeping the plot moving at a steady pace without rushing Allison's experiences. Her writing is so good it was difficult to choose between James and Aidan. One had an immediate spark with her, while the other was thoughtful, patient, and the kind of man who made it easy to root for him. I was ultimately pleased with how everything turned out because the ending felt right for the journey Allison had taken. Anyone looking for funny, touching stories about second chances, self-doubt, friendship, and figuring out what you really want should get a copy of this novel.
