Author Lorilyn Roberts, in her book Am I Okay, God? Devotionals From The Seventh Dimension, does a wonderful job of enabling the reader to explore their own faith and concepts, helping one to better understand their relationship with God. There are links following each devotional with a QR code that will allow the reader to explore additional insights from other resources. There are deep probing questions that will cause the reader to explore what they believe and understand they are not alone in their questions and uncertainties. This book drives right into the heart of the reader, causing one to grasp hold of truth and press in strong upon it, while understanding that darkness and sin will lead one away from the light of God's eternal love.

Author Roberts deals with many current and relational topics of the day without flinching or backing up. She allows the reader to be exposed to the truth of God's Word and causes them to do battle within themselves as to what they will do with that truth. While this is a fantastic book for a teenager or young adult, anyone can glean from its truths and wisdom. This would be a great book for churches to use in their youth groups as well as homes dealing with runaways, family issues, etc. This would allow counselors and those reading the book to have a springboard to launch into some rough topics that many times are hard to bring up. Great resource and helpful book.

Am I Okay, God? by Lorilyn Roberts is a Christian devotional book for young teens. The author wrote this devotional to be a companion to a novel she wrote, called Seventh Dimension – The Door, a Young Adult Christian Fantasy. One need not read the novel before using the devotional, but each individual devotion includes an excerpt from that story, which helps convey a biblical concept. In a nod to today’s high-tech world, each devotion also includes a QR Code which links to a YouTube video or website, also intended to help convey a concept. Each devotion begins with a biblical citation, then goes on to build upon that day’s topic. Each devotion addresses a topic of considerable interest to young teens, including secrets, guilt, desires, pretense, bullying, fear of rejection, sex, lies, forgiveness, and so on. A relevant side note: Seventh Dimension is Roberts’ young adult Christian Fantasy geared specifically to the same age group.

Am I Okay, God? is a cleverly designed and well-written topical devotional for teen girls and boys. Lorilyn Roberts draws examples from her own life which help immeasurably to establish credibility with younger readers. Each devotion is quite nicely developed, so as to walk the teens through a scripture verse, an excerpt from her Seventh Dimension novel, a personal struggle or victory experienced by the author, one or more website links, a QR link, and a short but pertinent prayer for the day. Am I Okay, God? would be an excellent gift for any young teen with questions about life… which likely includes every teen on the planet. To maximize growth benefits, this book should be given to your teen before he or she begins dating. Too late for that? Better late than never. Am I Okay, God? will help teens find answers to questions they didn’t know they had, address the fears and concerns of teens maturing to adulthood, and encourage them to stand strong for themselves and not cave under peer pressure, but to live wholly for God.

Lorilyn Roberts has created a very profound devotional guide in Am I Okay, God? Devotionals from the Seventh Dimension. Making use of excerpts from the book The Seventh Dimension, a Christian based young adult fantasy series, she has brought some of the deeper issues that young adults and teens face into greater depth and applied spiritual meaning to them. Dealing with topics like dating, bullying, abortion, forgiveness, salvation, and self-esteem, she draws those who have enjoyed her fantasy series into the deeper, spiritual lessons that touch us all. Lorilyn even jumps into deeper theological issues related to the Lord’s return and the end times. Applying scripture and personal experiences to each of the devotions, she creates a thought provoking guide for young adults and teens alike.

In Am I Okay, God? Devotionals from the Seventh Dimension, Lorilyn Roberts does an excellent job of drawing together the fictional work with the deeper meanings of scripture, much in the same way that the parables that Jesus told helped to illustrate profound points about the Kingdom of God. Through her experience as a mature Christian, the very sound advice that comes from more than 50 years of faith is spot on and practical. The mixture, along with a work of fiction that reaches into a deeper level of understanding, makes this work shine. Creative, inspiring and spiritually sound, Am I Okay, God? Devotionals from the Seventh Dimension is destined to be a solid way for young adults and teens to search out and find answers to some of the most penetrating issues they face.

It aims to answer any questions that come up, from self–esteem to dating, careers, forgiveness, and even abortion issues. Any issue you can think of for the younger set (and even some adults) can be found within these pages. It looks at what it means to be born again and offers a full range of 27 devotionals that come with links and other references to help continue education and enjoyment. It encourages discussion and should help to make you unafraid to speak about faith.

I have a friend with a preteen daughter who is starting to ask about these things. So when I got the chance to read Am I Okay, God?: Devotionals from the Seventh Dimension by Lorilyn Roberts and review it to see if it would help her, I did. I am glad I read this book. While it is laid out and geared in a way that is friendly for a younger audience, it is not light and fluffy in that sense. The topics covered are important and each passage shows a way to look at it. To find the faith you need and to know what it means to be born again into the faith. I think it is a good and inspirational read that will help someone who wishes to walk the path. The biggest thing I personally took away from this work is that it is okay to be a work in progress; it is okay to need to work on things because everyone has to work on things. I would recommend this one.
