Contemporary romance readers are in for a treat with Janetta Fudge-Messmer's An Unexpected Christmas Gift. Breanna Snow has a lot on her plate. Apart from preparing for her upcoming wedding with her fiancé William Davenport, Bree has to deal with the city manager, Matthew Jacobson, who has found permit issues on her Snowed Inn B&B property in Spencer Falls, Colorado. When Bree has a nervous breakdown while selecting her bridal gown, it's Matthew who takes her to the hospital. Soon, Matthew reveals that someone is scouting Bree's family property. Meanwhile, she receives shocking news about William's arrest in Peru. As the day of the wedding gets closer, Bree learns some concerning secrets about the Davenports. Bree and Matthew must now bring the culprits trying to take over the Snow property to justice.
An Unexpected Christmas Gift is a captivating Christian romance featuring a love triangle, suspense, and plenty of drama. In the first few pages, it feels like Janetta Fudge-Messmer has dropped you into a typical love story. But soon, it takes an unexpected turn and then you're never sure what's coming next as you find yourself trying to guess where your favorite characters will end up. Janetta has crafted some multi-faceted characters, and it doesn't take long for you to become invested in their storylines. The author's prose has a smooth flow to it that makes the narrative all the more enjoyable for the reader. I loved the changing dynamics of the relationships between Breanna and William and Breanna and Matthew. I also found the ending very heartwarming and satisfying. All in all, this is a wonderful book for contemporary romance fans, and I highly recommend it.
