Lady Scandal by Kate Serzenta is a compelling historical novel. Felix wants to save his indebted estate. He must convince Lord Colborne to become his business partner to secure capital. He also wants to find a wife. Georgiana Hargreaves is happy that she can still have fun and not think of marriage. Yet something happens that forces her to find someone and marry quickly so that her and her family's reputations will be safe. Georgiana plans to make Lord Colborne marry her, and Felix wants him to become his business partner. Thus, both Felix and Georgiana plan to help each other get what they want from Lord Colborne. However, their plan goes awry, and Georgiana ends up marrying Felix. From being one of the ton's most scandalous ladies to becoming a married woman, Georgiana now has to run a household, deal with Felix's rude grandmother, and help get the estate out of debt.
Lady Scandal is the first book in the Regency romance series Scandalous Valentines by Kate Serzenta. It's clever, sweeping, and unexpectedly amusing. I couldn't help but root for both protagonists and their struggles, aspirations, inner turmoil, and the marriage and love they both deserved. This well-crafted love story features an accidental marriage, opposites attract, compromising situations, and the satisfying personal growth of both main characters that really impressed me. It's perfect for readers looking for an outstanding romance about a heroine who loves the glamor, drama, and scandal but is determined to protect her reputation and family at all costs; and a hero who has to endure being a second son with an indebted estate who wants to prove himself.
