And You Thought Being Dead Was All There Was! is a gripping supernatural novel by Evelyn C. Woodward. Pete kept Susie awake and warned her not to go to sleep after she nearly died from rushing in front of a car. Susie's eyes were bandaged and hurt, but through the bandages and her eyelids, she was able to see the red-lit forms of those surrounding her. After the accident, Susie's childhood friend Kimmy discovered Susie could see and communicate with spirits. Susie learned while asleep that she was the Gatekeeper, a powerful woman who could touch spirits to transport them to the afterlife. Susie was still determining what her job as the Gatekeeper required and how she should go about it. With Kimmy's help and assistance, Susie soon found her feet as the Gatekeeper.

And You Thought Being Dead Was All There Was! by Evelyn C. Woodward was extraordinary. It was an exciting journey full of romance, action, surprises, the paranormal, and mystery. I thought the story's opening chapters covered everything and wondered how it would continue. As the plot developed, many things transpired so I was in for a huge surprise. All the twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. The characters were believable, and even the spirits felt like actual people. This story piqued my interest from the first page, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It was one of those books I could not put down, not even for a second.
