Andromeda is a gripping sci-fi novel by James Wells. When the vice-president of the United States of America is assassinated, a nuclear fallout leaves the planet unfit for life. The destruction kills everything, and humans have no choice but to leave and look for a new planet by traveling through space. Several ships that can accommodate five thousand people are scheduled to leave but to get a seat, ordinary humans have to win a lottery. Casey and his brother Jack get on one of the ships, leaving their mother behind. Unfortunately, their ship crash-lands on Andromeda. Casey, Jack, their friend Mia and other passengers find themselves in a mysterious place with strange creatures. A series of events will determine if the quest for human survival is a failure or a success.

James Wells’ Andromeda is a fascinating futuristic story about the quest for human survival as a consequence of a man-made global disaster. In this narrative, Wells has created another world with his vivid description and engaging literary style. Casey, Jack, and the enterprising Mia are complex, well-developed, relatable characters. The plot is a page-turner with numerous twists and turns that make it difficult to put down. It's a must-read for fans of the genre looking for a thought-provoking read. Ultimately, Andromeda reveals how fragile planet Earth is in the hands of greedy and power-hungry politicians and that for humanity to survive, unity and cooperation is of utmost importance.
