Mission: Yemen by Randall Krzak is an action novel that takes readers to the Middle East on a dangerous mission. The story follows Xavier Sear, a former CIA agent, who accepts an assignment from his former boss and friend Ron Vincent. In Yemen, Xavier helps Abdullah Bashari, a rich retired geologist and archaeologist. His daughter Shatara has been kidnapped by some Houthi militants. They want Shatara to marry a Saudi prince, Prince Hussein Khan al Mishari, who has his own motives too. Xavier has to work with his partners to devise a plan to rescue Shatara and save Bashari's family members. Before long, Xavier realizes that he is caught between the turmoil created by Houthi militants and Prince Hussein. While Xavier has to find a way out of this, Bashari has a damaging secret about Saudi Arabia that could change everything if it comes to light. If Xavier is not careful, things can escalate, and he can do nothing to save everyone from the consequences of other people’s actions.
Author Randall Krzak has created an intense and action-packed story that had me hooked from the very beginning. I really enjoyed following Xavier on this mission because the author made sure readers were engaged from the get-go. Shatara's courage in standing up to the kidnappers was something that really impressed me. She did not want to sign any fake statements regarding her father, and that was what made her into a likable character. Xavier is definitely an action hero. He is very smart, quick-thinking, and his motivation is more out of a sense of justice than merely carrying out orders. Prince al Mishari is a slimy villain, especially with how he manipulates the people around him to get what he wants. I loved to hate him. Mission: Yemen is a fantastic action novel that I highly recommend!
