Animal Antics ABC: Alphabet Rhyming A to Z by Lisa Ayotte is a delightful cavort through the alphabet that combines rhyme, humor, and photography to make learning letters fun and memorable. Each letter introduces new animals engaging in humorous and often unexpected activities, from aardvarks asleep on their bed, beavers baking bread, elephants eating fried eggs, lions loving their cornflakes, monkeys making fresh muffins, wolves washing their clothes, and zebras zigzagging through the street. No matter the animal involved, every page has catchy rhymes and rich alliteration. Whether you are a parent, teacher, or someone giving the book as a present, Animal Antics ABC is a visually appealing alphabet book that kids will want to return to repeatedly.

Created by retired elementary school teacher Lisa Ayotte, Animal Antics ABC: Alphabet Rhyming A to Z captures the fun of early childhood literacy through rhymes and playful animal antics. Children will marvel at sloths savoring pies and kangaroos keen on cupcakes. The rhymes, alliteration, and simple verses aid language development and letter recognition, making this picture book a great choice to read aloud with toddlers and preschoolers. What truly sets this book apart is the visual representation. Rather than traditional illustrations, Lisa Ayotte uses detailed miniature props crafted with care. These three-dimensional scenes draw the eyes of young readers. The result is unique and brings each character and action to life. Animal Antics ABC ends with a splashy pool party, reinforcing the theme that learning can be fun and engaging.

Animal Antics ABC by Lisa Ayotte is a “learn the alphabet” book for children. The author identifies an animal that starts with each letter and then uses a verb that starts with the same letter, which shows the animal doing something. For example: “R is for raccoons racing to be first.” Consecutive letters always rhyme, such as “O is for otters on their way to school" and “P is for pandas playing in a pool!” For illustrations, the author photographed animal miniatures doing various activities, whatever fits the letter of the alphabet. The book is aimed at children between the ages of 0 to 5, who will have the book read to them, and also those between the ages of 4 and 6, who can read by themselves.

It’s hard to imagine a cuter, more fun, or more educational children’s book than Animal Antics ABC by Lisa Ayotte. It will both enchant and educate children. The photographs are beautiful and cleverly put together. Children are sure to enjoy them as much as they do the text. The rhyming adds an extra layer of enjoyment, too. The book is perfectly suited to the intended age group, and children will want to learn more about the animals. I know my children would have been captivated by this book when they were young and would have wanted it read to them, and later read it themselves, over and over. I highly recommend this charming and superb book to children, their parents, and their grandparents.

Have you ever heard of the animal called the xerus? Its name begins with one of the last letters of the alphabet, and in Lisa Ayotte’s Animal Antics ABC, the xerus is busy x-raying toes. And that’s not all the animals can do. Beavers bake homemade bread; horses can hang picture frames; and jaguars can jam and sing. There’s so much more, all sparked and filled with imagination and laughter. What an interesting group of alphabetically arranged animals! It’s not a story about what animals really do, but rather an interesting collection of funny ideas and concepts using the author’s wonderful collection of punny peeps. They’re little critters that always have giggles growing.

Lisa Ayotte’s children’s alphabet book, Animal Antics ABC: Alphabet Rhyming A to Z, is a fun-filled collection of alphabetically organized animal puns. Each alphabetical listing includes a color-coordinated capital and lowercase letter to draw the young reader’s attention to the current presented letter. The single line introducing the letter and its punny animal is accompanied by a colorful illustration that’s just as much fun as the words themselves. The author also made this a lyrical treasure by making it a rhyming poetic treat. This entertaining, funny, and educational alphabetical collection will promote young readers’ interest in reading and help them recognize the letters. I love the author’s choice of animals to represent each letter and her wonderful imagination to create a rhyming verse for each new entry. This is a real treasure of an alphabet book. Loved it!
