In Fabiano Oliveira’s Anny, The Girl Who Hacked The Future, Anny Marveira grows up in Spain under the tutelage of her dad, a man whose hidden past as the hacker Spider Spinner gradually emerges. During a trip to Brazil, Anny notices some small financial irregularities and begins designing a covert program called Robin Hood. The goal? To infiltrate digital payment systems and redirect stolen micro amounts back into the accounts of ordinary citizens. While studying quantum science in Barcelona, she secretly deploys the system across Brazilian financial networks, setting in motion a massive economic shift and drawing the attention of intelligence agencies and global hackers alike. As investigators close in on the hacker now known as YvytuCipher, Anny must protect the code she created and the appearance of normal life. That's not easy when it looks like Robin Hood is capable of reshaping an entire nation’s economy.

Fabiano Oliveira’s Anny, The Girl Who Hacked The Future is set in a present-day world molded by advanced computation and covert cyber conflict. Anny is the protagonist I have been anticipating for a really long time. She is brilliant, courageous, and a woman in a literary genre overrun by men, and I did a little fist pump before even starting the book. It only got better from there. Anny juggles ordinary university life in Barcelona and a hidden digital operation, both in real time. For readers who, like me, have exactly zero tech savvy, the author explains what is necessary without bogging us down with the rest. Anny's sister Bea is also a spitfire. She knows about Robin Hood, plays lookout, and is preparing to be the next Olympic medallist. Lilly Kincaid counters as a principal opposing force, hunting the identity of YvytuCipher across classified databases, and ultimately making a decision that increases the pressure. Fast paced, well written, and immersive, this is a book that flirts with the potential of more to come without promising. Let's hope there's more. Very highly recommended.
