Art is Alive at Lakewood School! by Beverly Banfield is a fun children's book about art coming to life. On a beautiful day, Ms. Wood's class abandons their art projects to go play outside, but while they're gone, their art projects spring from their papers and come to life. The art makes a mess of their classroom. When the class returns, they clean up, and their teacher tells them to 'buddy up' with their art. The students and their art have a fun time reading, playing hockey, and playing soccer. The students have lots of fun, but what will happen when the day is over?
I really enjoyed reading Art is Alive at Lakewood School! by Beverly Banfield. The story was very creative. I liked that the class in the book behaved just like a class in real life. The characters are very likeable, because they are willing to help the artwork. The pictures look really cool, because they are a mix of drawings and photographs, and the pictures depict each scene very well. I thought it was great that Ms. Wood's grade 2-3 students were the illustrators, because it makes it look like the story actually happened. The book is very well written and descriptive. The book is fun to read, because it involves art, as well as playing sports and reading. I would definitely recommend this book to all young readers.
