In As Though Nothing Could Fall, Anthony Antinucci introduces us to Detective Mike Bowen of the Boston PD, who is visiting his father, Richie, once a prominent prosecution lawyer, at the Alzheimer’s facility in Massachusetts General Hospital. Mike is talking to his father’s primary caregiver, Tom, about his father’s care. After Mike leaves the hospital, he gets a phone call from his captain to go straight away to Langone Park where a twelve-year-old boy, Sam, has been murdered. Mike finds out that Sam’s best friend is Thomas Zaccardi who is the son of an Italian crime boss of north side Boston. Both Mike and his father have had dealings with him in the past and Francis Zaccardi has come out on top! Mike thinks that Thomas is in danger from his father so he breaks all protocol and decides to keep Thomas with him so he can protect him. Read this exciting book and find out how Mike, Richie, Tom, Thomas, and Francis are involved in this fascinating case.
Anthony Antinucci has a way of writing that keeps you intrigued as he introduces the different characters; he gives detailed descriptions of the people's likes, dislikes, and friendships which helps you to see the different personalities. Some parts of the book are very, very fast and exciting with action and gunfire, and other parts are very calm where the characters are having normal everyday conversations. Anthony’s method of writing leaves you wondering as to the sensibleness and wisdom of Detective Mike Bowen's actions. But during the course of the book, you learn why he did things the way he did. It’s very good how Anthony weaves into the story a romance rekindled after a decade. All in all, an enjoyable and well-written book with no bad language. This book will appeal to all lovers of crime fiction.
