Wave is a supernatural mystery by T.A. Styles. It follows a mother as she discovers her son has a strange and dangerous gift. Sadie Williams is surprised to see her son wave for the first time at only nine months old. However, some shocking things start happening; some people suddenly become violently ill and start vomiting intensely for a few seconds around her. Sadie comes up with some explanations, initially concluding that she might be spreading some illness. Determined to find out what is happening, she soon learns that her son could be the one causing other people to get violently sick. But how and why? She begins testing theories and decides that no one but her family must know the truth. When she discovers that her son is dangerous, she decides to do whatever it takes to protect him, not anticipating how his gift will affect those close to him or what it will take to help him fulfill his purpose.

Wave is a memorable novel. T.A. Styles plunges the reader into a supernatural mystery right away. It's unique, at times unsettling, and cleverly written. It's full of emotional depth. The story features choices that come at a price, destiny, intriguing developments, and love. The complex characters must adapt, embrace new challenges, and undergo permanent change. The gripping, suspenseful premise held my attention for an entire four-hour flight. What I found most riveting was the way the whole mystery surrounding Sadie's son affected his father and grandmother, especially how everything unfolded after they discovered what it was all about. All fans of supernatural suspense should read this book.

Wave by T.A. Styles centers around Michael Mack-Williams. Michael’s extraordinary and terrifying abilities emerge when he is only nine months old. When Michael innocently waves at people, it triggers a bizarre reaction that leaves people violently ill. Sadie was concerned about Michael's abilities, but his father, Ryan, was dismissive until he witnessed proof. Michael's power was unique and could be dangerous. As he grows older, he learns to wave objects, but not his hands. Desperate to protect her son, Sadie uncovers a disturbing truth. Michael has been chosen to carry an ancient power linked to cutting people’s threads of life. The mystery of Michael’s calling is the beginning of a haunting journey that alters the lives of his loved ones.

Wave by T.A. Styles is intriguing and complex. The writing was engaging, with chapters that flow into each other. The mystery surrounding Michael’s ability unfolded naturally and at times felt normal. The characters were realistic, and each had an interesting background. Every character had a specific role in the story. Sadie was determined to protect Michael no matter what, while Ryan was not prepared for what was to come. The way Michael’s ability came about sounded authentic and acceptable. It captured my imagination, and it was easy to lose myself in Michael’s world. The book was brilliantly written and held my attention throughout. I had no idea what to expect from this book and was surprised. It exceeded my expectations by far.

Wave by T.A Styles follows single mother Sadie, who should be celebrating her baby’s milestone – his first wave. Instead, that innocent wave is the start of something terrifying. Anyone who sees the wave falls violently ill. As the illness spreads with deadly consequences, Sadie realizes that her child may be dangerous. As she struggles to keep him safe, she tries to find out what her son is, turning to family to help her. What they discover is tied to something ancient, something unseen, something no human could ever understand. The stakes are rising, and Sadie is forced to confront danger, destiny, and the terrible cost her son’s gift brings.

T.A. Styles has written a gripping supernatural thriller that grabs you from the very first page. Wave is a tense story, a blend of strong maternal love and escalating terror. It isn’t a fast-paced story; it’s a slow burner that builds the tension, drawing you ever deeper in with each page, and revealing the story gradually. It’s driven by emotion with the focus firmly on the main protagonist, Sadie, a beautifully developed character you can relate to, as she experiences fear and confusion, and the strong urge to protect her son, regardless. It’s a vivid depiction of the strength of the maternal bond and the lengths a mother will go to in protecting her child. The supernatural suspense helps the tension rise, instilling dread into readers on every page, but it’s also an emotional roller coaster of heartbreak and horror. If you love strong characters and an emotionally charged supernatural mystery, you’ll love this one.
