Astraeus by Callan J. Mulligan is a futuristic sci-fi thriller set in space. Astraeus, the largest starship of the Galactic Commonwealth, is on a two-hundred-year journey in finding a new colony for its hundred thousand passengers. However, when a shocking murder happens aboard the ship, a sinister conspiracy slowly unravels that threatens to change everything. Lizabeth Denning, who altered her medical records to be on the trip, witnesses the murder, only to see someone else being framed for it. To make matters worse, the ship is falling apart with each passing day, with seemingly no discernable problems, putting everyone's lives in mortal danger. With time and oxygen running out, some extraordinary people from varied backgrounds take matters into their own hands and come together to save the lives of the rest. But can they succeed?
Author Callan J. Mulligan keeps his cards close to the chest as he crafts a captivating plot that will have readers glued to the pages until the end. Filled with suspense, mystery, and intrigue, Astraeus is a riveting sci-fi thriller that lovers of space-oriented stories will devour with relish. The multiple POV narrative makes the story all the more immersive as you find yourself in the headspace of different individuals as they come to terms with their predicament. The characters are well-developed, with distinct personalities and backstories that explain their actions. You find yourself rooting for our main protagonists as they undertake dangerous endeavors to save the lives of many. Astraeus is an imaginative thriller that any sci-fi fan will love to read.
