August 14, 2022 is a work of fiction in the interpersonal drama, slice-of-life, and visionary fiction genres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience. Penned by author Kerry ONeal, this engaging and poignant work explores the impact of significant dates in our lives, focusing on the ultimate date we all share: our last day on earth. The narrative follows a man who is unaware of the exact date of his death, delving into themes of love, family values, and friendships. The story raises the question of whether one would want to know their death date and examines how such knowledge, or the lack thereof, shapes our relationships and experiences.

Author Kerry ONeal has crafted a profound and introspective story about humanity’s most common fear, and the novel delivers quite the existential gut punch as a result. The concept of significant dates resonates deeply on multiple levels, reflecting on humanity’s capacity for memory and date-setting, as well as the pivotal moments from the most unexpected places that shape us. The central question of whether one would want to know their death date elicits a mix of curiosity and apprehension, and the narrative takes the topic on confidently with no holds barred on the emotional implications of the discussion. It prompted me to consider how such knowledge might alter my own priorities and relationships, whilst the protagonist’s journey was compellingly penned, illustrating the beauty and fragility of life through his interactions with loved ones. Themes of love and family values were woven seamlessly into the narrative, highlighting the importance of cherishing each moment, and the beautiful descriptive language of the story's emotional depth and philosophical undertones left a lasting impression and an impetus to seize and cherish every moment. Overall, August 14, 2022 was a moving read that I would certainly recommend to fans of accomplished philosophical storytelling everywhere.
